Standing amidst a sunburst, with the moon under feet, Mary is depicted as the Mother of the Redeemer, trampling underfoot the serpent that tempted Eve.

Tradition tell us when little Hermann Joseph presented a statue of the Christ Child with a ball, the statue came to life and the Infant Jesus climbed down from his mother's lap to play.

Christmas holy card for the Catholic
market in Bohemia, now part of the
Czech Republic. This inscription is
Czech for the "Nativity of the Lord".
